The VIPER-28P is a Hydraulic flange spreading tool kit used to separate flange joints for maintenance, Installation, testing and decommissioning. The kit contains a VIPER-28P spreading wedge Tool, stepped blocks, safety blocks, stepped safety block, safety lanyard and everything needed to operate the tool safely, The integral pump removes the requirement for a hand pump and hoses making the VIPER-28P very compact and ideal for use in remote or tight access areas or when assailing, it is packaged in a robust carry case for easy transport and storage..
A very powerful and portable Hydraulic tool, the VIPER-28P is the correct hydraulic tool for Large and medium sized flange joints but with the narrow Jaw tip it can also be used on smaller flanges.
The VIPER-28P hydraulic flange spreader kit is a popular choice for abseilers and tight access areas because the in-built Hydraulic pump removes the need for hoses and an external pump.
The VIPER-28P tool is design to enter the gap between flanges and force the flange open removing the requirement for traditional rigging equipment and certified anchor points.
It is highly recommended that a minimum of two VIPER-28P tools are used when spreading flange joints – This allows the operators to control the opening of the flange joint to maintain a parallel gap – this will ensure the tool maintains a secure grip on the flange and prevent pinching the gasket and potential flange face damage.
The VIPER-28P is actuated by hydraulic pressure that pushes a piston creating a linear force on the internal wedge – the internal wedge then forces the jaws of the tool apart.
Using high pressure hydraulics allows the operator to generate very high spreading forces without the requirement for an external power source.
All RenQuip Spreading Wedge Tools are designed to be used in conjunction with RenQuip Flange Alignment tools.
The Tool is lightweight and portable making it ideal for use in remote locations.
If more force is required greater multiples of tools can be used.
