The FSW17P-BRONZE is a Spark Resistant Hydraulic flange spreading tool kit used to separate flange joints for maintenance, Installation, testing and decommissioning. The kit contains a FSW17P -BRONZE spreading wedge Tool, Bronze stepped blocks, Non Ferrous safety blocks and everything needed to operate the tool safely, The integral pump removes the requirement for a hand pump and hoses making the FSW17P -BRONZE very compact and ideal for use in remote or tight access areas or when abseiling, it is packaged in a robust carry case for easy transport and storage.
The FSW17P -BRONZE :
Requires a minimum flange gap of 6 mm (0.24”)
Spreads the flanges with a parallel action ensuring a full 15 mm Jaw step contact is maintained for safe and stable spreading
The FSW17 -BRONZE produces a maximum spreading force of 163kN (36,644 lbf) when the maximum hydraulic pressure of 700 bar (10,000 PSI) is generated through the integral pump.
A powerful and portable Hydraulic tool, the FSW17P -BRONZE weighs only 8.5 Kg (18.7 lbs) and is the correct hydraulic tool for medium and small sized flange joints that require spreading.
The FSW17P-BRONZE Spark Resistant kit is a popular choice for abseilers and tight access areas because the in-built Hydraulic pump removes the need for hoses and an external pump.
The FSW17P-BRONZE tool is design to enter the gap between flanges and force the flange open removing the requirement for traditional rigging equipment and certified anchor points.
It is highly recommended that a minimum of two FSW17P-BRONZE tools are used when spreading flange joints – This allows the operators to control the opening of the flange joint to maintain a parallel gap – this will ensure the tool maintains a secure grip on the flange and prevent pinching the gasket and potential flange face damage.
The FSW17P-BRONZE is actuated by hydraulic pressure that pushes a piston creating a linear force on the internal wedge – the internal wedge then forces the jaws of the tool apart.
Using high pressure hydraulics allows the operator to generate very high spreading forces without the requirement for an external power source. The Tool is lightweight and portable making it ideal for use in remote locations.
