The FSW17M is a Hydraulic flange spreading tool kit used to separate flange joints for maintenance, Instalation, testing and decomisioning. The kit contains two FSW17 spreading wedge tools, a twin port hydraulic pump and two hoses, stepped blocks and safety blocks – everything that you need to operate the tools safely. It is packaged in a robust carry case for easy transport and storage.
The FSW17M:
Requires a minimum flange gap of 6 mm (0.24”)
Spreads the flanges with a parallel action ensuring a full 15 mm Jaw step contact is maintained for safe and stable spreading
The FSW17 produces a maximum spreading force of 163kN (36,644 lbf) 326kN (73,288 lbf) when used in pairs and the maximum hydraulic pressure of 700 bar (10,000 PSI) is applied with the hydraulic pump included with the kit.
A powerful and portable Hydraulic tool, the FSW17 weighs only 7 Kg (15.4 lbs) and is the correct hydraulic tool for medium and small sized flange joints that require spreading.
The FSW17M kit is a popular choice for engineers because it comes complete with two tools a pump, hoses and all items required to safely spread a flange joint.
The PH300T pump included in the kit allows a single operator to control two tools independently or simultaneously to ensure parallel flange spreading.
The FSW17 tool is design to enter the gap between flanges and force the flange open removing the requirement for traditional rigging equipment and certified anchor points.
It is highly recommended that a minimum of two FSW17 tools are used when spreading flange joints – This allows the operator to control the opening of the flange joint to maintain a parallel gap – this will ensure the tool maintains a secure grip on the flange and prevent pinching the gasket and potential flange face damage.
The FSW17 is actuated by hydraulic pressure that pushes a piston creating a linear force on the internal wedge – the internal wedge then forces the jaws of the tool apart.
Using high pressure hydraulics allows the operator to generate very high spreading forces with a hand pump (included in the FSW17M kit) – this removes the requirement for an external power source.

The Tool is lightweight and portable making it ideal for use in remote locations.
