The FSW17H is a Hydraulic flange spreading tool kit used to separate flange joints for maintenance, Installation, testing and decommissioning. The kit contains an FSW17 spreading wedge a hydraulic hand pump, hose and all items required to operate the tool safely, it is packaged in a robust carry case for easy transport and storage.
The FSW17H:
Requires a minimum flange gap of 6 mm (0.24”)
Spreads the flanges with a parallel action ensuring a full 15 mm Jaw step contact is maintained for safe and stable spreading
The FSW17 produces a maximum spreading force of 163kN (36,644 lbf) when the maximum pressure of 700 bar (10,000 PSI) is applied with the hand pump provided in the kit.
A powerful and portable Hydraulic tool, the FSW17 weighs only 7 Kg (15.4 lbs) and is the correct hydraulic tool for medium and small sized flange joints that require spreading.
The FSW17 tool is design to enter the gap between flanges and force the flange open removing the requirement for traditional rigging equipment and certified anchor points.
It is highly recommended that a minimum of two FSW17 tools are used when spreading flange joints – This allows the operator to control the opening of the flange joint to maintain a parallel gap – this will ensure the tool maintains a secure grip on the flange and prevent pinching the gasket and potential flange face damage.
The FSW17 is actuated by hydraulic pressure that pushes a piston creating a linear force on the internal wedge – the internal wedge then forces the jaws of the tool apart.
Using high pressure hydraulics allows the operator to generate very high spreading forces with a hand pump (included in the FSW17H kit) – this removes the requirement for an external power source.

The Tool is lightweight and portable making it ideal for use in remote locations.
If more force is required, multiple tools can be operated together, or the RenQuip VIPER-28 hydraulic spreading wedge can be selected.
