Clayton circular (disc) backup pads are the interface between a dustless sander and the abrasive disc, available in 3, 3.5, 5, 6 and 8 inch diameters. They are offered across attachment methods (Hook, J-Hook and Vinyl), hole patterns (Multi-Hole, Standard-Hole and No-Hole) and profiles (Low Profile tapered edge vs High Profile blunt edge) to suit every sanding task.

The low-profile multi-hole pads are designed specifically for vacuum sanding – the large number of holes provides unmatched airflow and dust capture, and they come standard on all Clayton sanders with J-Hook attachment. J-Hook creates a small channel between the abrasive and the foam pad for better airflow and dust transport across the disc, and is preferred for screen abrasives.
5″ and 6″ pads mount with a 5/16-18 stud; 8″ pads mount with an 8 x 1/4-20 female thread. Pad density (Soft / Medium / Hard) is chosen for the desired aggressiveness: soft pads are less aggressive, hard pads more aggressive.
