Clayton Torque-Reducing Right Angle Sander Extension (Air/Vac Hose Whip)

A 1′ combination Air/Vac hose whip that decreases torque and reduces hand fatigue when working with sanders. Torque (Moment) is the tendency of a force to rotate an object around an axis – here the center of the sander – and equals force times distance from the axis of rotation.

The right angle shortens the effective moment arm from about 11″ to about 7″. Using the example of 5′ of hose weighing 2 lbs: a standard hose connection gives 2 lbs x 11 in = 22 in-lbs of torque, while the right angle extension gives 2 lbs x 7 in = 14 in-lbs – a 36% reduction in torque. Available in two hose sizes: 3/4″ and 1″.
